David and Janet are close friends of ours.  We had a big laugh when I shot Janet’s maternity session about two months ago more the fact that it just brought back memories of those wedding photography poses many moons ago that they had to endure!

I had the idea of mixing the two current photography mediums of “Digital and Film” to create something unique for both David and Janet plus for me.

I’ve dabbled in the idea of bringing in traditional film sessions into our creative arsenal for two reasons:

  1. Film is warm and romantic, it speaks to you like no other & it’s tonality never dates.
  2. It’s also personal for me.  My grass roots in photography was film and I never seemed to have achieved the success of shooting film back in my early days of film photography.

This session was crafted from 100% Fujifilm 400h and with some gorgeous Medium Format goodness…… yes film is certainly not dead just advancing for many!

Note: Baby Jensen is handsome and cute.  You have been warned!

Hanging out with Andrew, Theresa, Charlotte & Ben was pretty cool.  We chilled out on a strange summery 27 degree day however it was in the middle of Autumn over in a part of the Melbourne I don’t normally hangout in…. Bon Beach.

For Andrew & Theresa – Bon Beach means so much.  You see this is their backyard – this is where they play as a family, take walks as a family against the shimmering sunsets overlooking Melbourne’s beautiful bay….. This is Bon Beach, this is home!

Again thanks Andrew, Theresa, Charlotte & Ben for being such a great family and just a really pleasant to hang out with!

I’ve always have great admiration for musicians, check out the boys from “Empire of Dirt” putting in the hard yards over 5 long days recording their sounds.  Music photography was something I’ve always wanted to shoot so it was great to live that experience.  Good equipment and a keen eye certainly helped in creating this awesome collection.  Checkout Empire of Dirt’s sounds via soundcloud and hit them up on Facebook to find when their next gig will be.  You just never know….. we may come back with more of Empire of Dirt in the near future…. Take it away boys!…/empireofdirt-2/brunswig

Rhonda & Jim’s little beachside wedding was not only oozing with love and happiness, it was their dream wedding.  We loved the handmade fans, the little messages in the bottle the handmade frames – the warmth of this wedding will surely be in our memories for a long time to come.  The venue was at “The Heads” down at Barwon Heads…. an amazing venue, amazing staff and thank you kind weather for giving us a nice dry afternoon.  Congrats Rhonda & Jim, another “Star” couple that we have enjoyed working with!

Summery evenings creates some awesome soft lighting also known as the “Golden Hour”.  So it was no surprise that it is my favourite time to shoot a family session.

I first met Greg & Nat’s little one Sophie in February last year outside the nab building in Docklands.  I used to work with Nat in the same team at nab about 3 years ago.  In fact Sophie was born not long after my youngest around April.  Many a discussions, hints and tips about babies took place in the work lunch rooms during that time.  So when Greg & Nat asked me to shoot a family session with them before Sophie turned 2 I was pretty excited.  Here is the little time I got to spend with Greg, Nat and Lil Sophie as we wondered from Geelong’s Botanic Gardens to one of our favourite beach locations Barwon Heads!  Thanks again to Greg & Nat for the effort in travelling down to my place of the world from Melbourne and also the beautiful opportunity to create some great magic that you guys can enjoy now and into the future.  I think I’m going to have to rename our family shoots to “family album time”.

2011 has been a tremendous year… we still have stacks of photo sessions that we haven’t been able to share with everyone so they will be part of 2012’s portfolio blog!

Here is a recent photo of my gorgeous eldest daughter Kayla captured during a family day at my parents.  This time of year reminds me of the importance of family time and may those little seedlings bring bigger things to everyone’s life in 2012.

Remember to stay safe over the holiday period!

Tom and I look forward to returning in 2012 (haha it’s only tomorrow eek) with some more phenomenal funky photography from our beautiful wedding couples, families, friends and just some chill time sessions!

Echuca was our next destination for Steph and Neil’s wedding.  We were just as excited as the Bride and Groom were because Echuca was a perfect backdrop to a gorgeous classical wedding.

What a gorgeous couple and congratulations to Steph and Neil once again!

Hand crafted bouquet’s, horse and cart, train stations and hanging around a toilet block??!!

Josh and Meg’s beautiful day was one full of creativity, fun and classical Cinderella story with a sprinkle of rain to make things real interesting.

We had an awesome time with the whole bridal party and it was fun, fun and more fun throughout the day.

Congratulations Josh and Meg’s once again on a brilliant wedding!

The wedding cake was created by Cupcakes are the new “Black” here in Geelong.

Queens Birthday long weekend was a real treat for the {artifex} crew, we spent some time with Nicole, Damien and Cheeky Thomas over at Barwon Heads.

The wintery afternoon certainly got warmer as we were out chasing Thomas down as he ran out towards the open beach front.

Thomas’ favourite superhero “Spiderman!”

{artifex} has been real busy as of late designing and developing our new web page that will support this blog post….

Besides the web site, wedding’s and family portraits have taken most of our time as of late and we look forward in sharing some of these with you in the coming weeks!
